KWRW - Final

We're finally back, and the trip once again has a story.  Dave and I left Ft. Lauderdale on Monday morning at approx 4:30 AM.  Everything was going fine, we made it all the way to South Carolina (site of last years disaster), when it happened.  Dave was driving when all of a sudden a tire on the trailer blew out.  Luckily there was an exit ramp right there, and we pulled over.  It seemed as though a piece of wire was caught between the axle and the hub plate, and cut away the sidewall of the tire.  It took us approx an hour to get all of the wire out of the axle, in one of the most inaccessible places on the trailer.  We were two feet from the road, so tractor trailers were blowing by at about 80 mph.  We got the spare tire on, and discovered it was a little wider than the rest, but thought nothing of it.  We drove away, and about 20 minutes later, we hit a bump, and I saw blue smoke from the tire.  The fender on the trailer was cutting into the tread.  We bent the fender, and didn't have another trailer problem again.  We made it back to Mattituck, at approx. 7 AM on Tuesday morning.  It's tough to sleep in the cab of a pickup, so we're pretty shot.  But the boat is in one piece.

Can someone tell us why we left warm weather to come home, this sucks!!!
